Android USB debugging

USB debugging mode must be enabled on Android device to extend connectivity.
Instructions vary based on Android version of the device.

Before you start, please set up MTP file transfer mode by following these instructions.

Choose instructions link corresponding to device Android version from the top of the page.

To check Android version, open device Settings, find About phone and check the Android version field.

Huawei Android 8.0 - 9.x

  1. Open Settings > System and tap About phone
  1. Tap Build number 7 (seven) times until a note You are now a developer! appears. A new item Developer options is added to Settings.
  1. Go back one level and open Developer options
  1. Ensure that the device is connected to computer with a USB cable and MTP file transfer mode is on
  1. Enable USB debugging. If USB-debugging is dimmed, switch Developer options Off and then back On.

    NOTE! In some devices Monitor apps installed by ADB will be automatically switched on at this point. Switch it off before continuing.
  1. Accept confirmation dialog by tapping OK button
  1. Accept the USB debugging confirmation pop-up window by tapping OK button. If it isn’t shown automatically, disconnect the device and connect it again. If that does not solve the problem, switch Allow ADB debugging in charge only mode on from Developer options and continue from step 5.
  1. USB debugging has now been enabled. You can check the status by swiping down from top of the device screen again.

To check Android version, open device Settings, find About phone and check the Android version field.
