Android USB debugging

USB debugging mode must be enabled on Android device to extend connectivity.
Instructions vary based on Android version of the device.

Before you start, please set up MTP file transfer mode by following these instructions.

Ensure that SIM card is inserted into the device.

Xiaomi Android 8.x and earlier

  1. Sign in to Mi Account.

    (1) Enter a phone number and password OR
    (2) Tap Other ways to sign in and enter Email address or Mi Account ID followed by password
    (3) Tap Sign in button

    If you do not have a Mi Account, create one now by tapping Create an account button.
  1. Accept a Mi cloud confirmation query by tapping Got it. Tap Allow or Deny in the 3 (three) queries.
  1. Open Settings and tap About phone
  1. Tap MIUI Version 7 (seven) times until a note You are now a developer! appears. A new item Developer options is added to Settings.
  1. Go back one level and open Additional Settings
  1. Tap Developer options
  1. Switch USB debugging on and accept confirmation dialog. If USB debugging is dimmed, switch Developer options Off and then back On.
  1. Switch Install via USB on. NOTE! You need to insert SIM card at this point if you have not already done so (applies to MIUI versions later than 8.5.3.0).
  1. Connect the device to the computer with a USB cable. Tap Install when asked whether to Install PiceaOne app via USB
  1. If PiceaOne installation fails, switch USB debugging (Security settings) On. Tap Accept in the Warning dialog.
  1. USB debugging has now been enabled. You can check the status by swiping down from top of the device screen again.

To check Android version, open device Settings, find About phone and check the Android version field.
